Two major home invaders are the carpet bug better known as the carpet beetle and the maggot which is actually a house fly larvae.

It is important to remember that textile insects such as carpet beetles and clothes moths can digest protein fibers such as wool silk and specialty hair fibers but they can also be found on synthetic fibers if they contain protein substances. These types of materials carpet beetles routinely feast on include wool felt leather silk fur and feathers. Inside a carpet considered immaculate to the human eye is home to bugs.

The larvae feed on animal skin fur clothing and carpets and upholstery are made of natural fibres. For example fur feathers wool silk leather and bed. Carpet moths are found worldwide they usually fly from april october depending on location. When a bug takes shelter inside a carpet it causes an infestation.

Carpet beetles can actually eat any animal product that comes into its contact. If you notice small balding patches in the corners and at the edges of your carpets the chances are that you have an infestation of carpet moths.
